About Us

Troupant Publishers specialises in vocational learning and teaching materials aimed at preparing learners for the workplace or supporting those in employment to progress.

Troupant offers an extensive range of textbooks – student’s books and lecturer’s guides – developed to deliver both the National Certificate (Vocational) and Nated (Report 191) curricula in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges.

Troupant publications can be purchased in both hard copy and e-book format. Digital lecturer support material accompanies many lecturer’s guides. Troupant has developed digital professional support material for lecturers on commission from the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

Sales, distribution and customer service for Troupant publications are managed by our partner, global publisher Macmillan Education.

Publishing since 1998, Troupant is a Level 2 B-BBEE South African company owned by Van Schaik Bookstore.

Troupant also develops educational content for training providers and employers working in the space of technical and work-related skills directed at employment.

Troupant’s technical titles were first published as the Mactech Technical series by Macmillan, and later as the Southern Technical series published by Southern Books. The range of textbooks was expanded from 2007 to support the Department of Higher Education and Training’s introduction of the National Certificate (Vocational), or NC(V), which is offered alongside the Report 191 (Nated)
